The Postage Stamp Vegetable Garden

This classic gardening bestseller (over 500,000 copies sold) uses ecologically friendly, intensive biodynamic methods to produce large amounts of vegetables in very tiny spaces. Revised for an all new generation of gardeners, the 40th anniversary edition includes brand new information on the variety of heirloom vegetables available today and how to grow them the postage stamp way.

To accommodate today's lifestyles, a garden needs to fit easily into a very small plot, take as little time as possible to maintain, require a minimum amount of water, and still produce prolifically. That's exactly what a postage stamp garden does. Postage stamp gardens are as little as 4 by 4 feet, and, after the initial soil preparation, they require very little extra work to produce a tremendous amount of vegetables--for instance, a 5-by-5-foot bed will produce a minimum of 200 pounds of vegetables.

When first published 40 years ago, the postage stamp techniques, including closely planted beds rather than rows, vines and trailing plants grown vertically to free up space, and intercropping, were groundbreaking. Now, in an ever busier world, the postage stamp intensive gardening method continues to be invaluable for gardeners who wish to weed, water, and work a whole lot less yet produce so much more.

About the Author

Karen Newcomb has contributed to and co-written eight gardening books with her late husband, Duane. She is a lifetime vegetable gardener,  garden blogger, and avid writer, and has been a writing teacher for more than twenty years. She lives in Rocklin, California.

When this book was first published in 1975, these concepts were unusual and revolutionary in the home garden. Since that time, there have been many imitators and variations, but the postage stamp method has stood the test of time. With more than half a million copies sold, this book has helped people of all gardening levels successfully grow many more vegetables in very tiny spaces.

This new edition is fully revised and now contains information on heirloom seed varieties. Heirloom varieties not only produce excellent results, but you can also save the seeds for the next season to guarantee the same vegetable as the parent plant. Because heirloom vegetables are living artifacts of history, these old-time varieties offer a glimpse of earlier times when vegetables were known and grown for their flavor.

The Postage Stamp Vegetable Garden offers simple, easy techniques that work. I hope you will try the postage stamp methods in your garden, and then experiment on your own. Get ready to plant. Whether you plant hybrid varieties or grow heirlooms, you will soon be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
The Postage Stamp Vegetable Garden: Grow Tons of Organic Vegetables in Tiny Spaces and Containers

I'm trying to teach my home schooled daughter about growing fruits and vegetables this year. However since we have a tiny yard I'm looking for all the help I can get. This book has a lot of good pointers and how to-s that I'm looking forward to implementing. I am also hopeful that my daughter will turn out to have a green thumb and enjoy gardening. I enjoyed reading this book and I have recommended it to my friends as well.
As a blogger companies sometimes provide me with samples of their products, and in this case, Blogging for Books provided me with their The Postage Stamp Vegetable Garden: Grow Tons of Organic Vegetables in Tiny Spaces and Containers to test and review and to give my honest opinion of the results

Single Cup Club

As a member of Single Cup Club you’ll experience small batch roasted coffees in the convenience of single serve cups.  Every month you’ll discover 3 unique blends of artisan coffee and have enough coffee to brew 15 savory cups.  Come explore the world of artisan coffee and discover your passion for amazing coffee.

This Month's Trio consisted of A Bright and Early Breakfast Blend, a Fog Buster and a Title Town Brew. They were all delicious coffees and I still haven't been able to decide which one I liked best.

  Bright and Early Breakfast Blend
Wake up gently with this invigorating blend of dark Espresso and medium roasted Costa Rican coffees. Bold, jazzy and aromatic, this brew is a perfect way to start the day.
I like this as a nice Mid-morning cup of coffee. But then I like a nice jolt when I first face the day, not a gentle nudge.

The darkest coffee you will ever find. This signature dark roast is a blend of five kinds of beans and three different roasts, which makes this the darkest coffee you will ever find. Smokey and Spicy, this full bodied brew has just enough acidity for a rich cup.   Click Here for K-Cups!
This is a nice, rich cup of coffee. I enjoyed having this one first thing in the morning to help me wake up.

Titletown Brew

In Titletown USA, excellence is never a "sometimes" thing it is an "all the time" thing! This everyday all-around brew will stand the test of time and flavor. This coffee is a friendly get-together of our highest quality Central American offerings, creating an extremely smooth and mild everyday blend.

Meticulously hand roasted in Titletown USA, this coffee truly lives up to the excellence in its name.

I found this to be a delicious, smooth cup of coffee that is good anytime I feel like having a cup.

This is a great way to try out new coffees. I love coffee and Artisian coffees are always a treat. I look forward to trying next months box as well!

Monthly Pepper Box

The New Pepper sauce box that is hot!
Before you join:
Frequently Asked Questions

1. When do I pay for my membership to Monthly Pepper Box?

You will pay for your first box, or series of boxes if you prepay for 3+ months, when you first signup. After your first box, or prepaid period, your membership will renew for another period equal to your first period. All membership will renew on the 25th of each month.

2.When will my first box go out?

If you join before the 15th of the month your first box of hot sauce will be shipped out on the 15th of the month. If you join after the 15th your first box will be shipped out on the following month's 15th.

3.How hot will the hot sauce be?

With each box, our goal is to showcase all that makes a brand unique. So there will be HOT sauces (8/10 to 10/10) but there will also be sauces for the less hardened pepper head. Monthly Pepper Box will feature a collection of sauces good for intermediate pepper heads and above.

4.Who decides what sauces are sent out?

For the most part, MPB will allow the hot sauce makers to decide what we send out. We LOVE hot sauces but each hot sauce maker KNOWS their brand. And we want to feature their vision of their brand and let you decide if they are deserving of your business moving forward. Though we do retain veto power, just in case.

5.What if I don't like the hot sauces I get?

First off, we don’t guarantee that you are going to love every sauce we send out. As each and every person’s palate is different no two people will view sauces the same way. Inevitably you will get a hot sauce you just don’t like. But that is, to a large degree, part of why you should join Monthly Pepper Box. You will get to experience all the good and the little bad the hot sauce industry has to offer. When it doubt, re-gift the offending sauce to the break room at work. But if you decide that you REALLY regret your choice to join and that you have been swindled out of your hard earned money, then we will refund your money and end your membership with no hard feelings on our end.

First up was : Minorcan Gold- This citrus-based sauce is fired up with the pepper of St. Augustine, the Datil Pepper.  There are undertones of curry and peppercorns that give a wonderful flavor with just a mild heat.  Good on just about anything, it works especially well on seafood, chicken, and pork.
This sauce goes wonderfully with Asian dishes, I added some to my last stir fry and the family loved it.
Next up:Minorcan Ghost-This sauce is the Minorcan Gold amped up with the buttock burning heat of the Ghost Pepper, aka Bhut Jolokia from India!  This is a hot level sauce but not so hot as to cover up flavors.  It is very good strait on your food as a condiment or mixed in sauces during cooking or in dips. This was the boy's favorite. They are for some reason obsessed with Ghost Peppers so they had fun challenging each other with this sauce and eating it on everything they thought might taste remotely good with it on it.
I wasn't able to find a lot of information on the last bottle I tried, even though it was my favorite out of all of them. Flamingo Fire is a fun hot sauce that says it's great on Gator, Possum, Snapping Turtle, Crok and Rattlesnake. I'm a little to far from the Gulf Coast to get most of that, but I can tell you that it's great on chicken. The ingredients include a yummy blend of  Choice Hot peppers, Distilled White Vinegar, Cane Sugar, cane Syrups, Garlic, Salt, and Other Spices.

If you love hot sauces then I would definitely recommend this subscription box. It's a great way to try out new sauces for not a lot of money. Of course there's no guarantee that you will like every sauce, but I like this method of trying them better than paying a lot more for the same thing and not loving it.

I am delighted to tell you about a New Web store I found (New to me at any rate) They do custom prints of your pictures there are a lot of options available so I'm only going to cover a few.
The first thing I have to tell you about is their awesome Metallic Prints. These look so much better in real life, I haven't mastered the art of taking pictures of pictures and I apologize.
The Website is extreamly user friendly and it walked me through the process of choosing the best of my pictures to print. I'm obviously not a wonderful photographer because I only had a few Excellent Quality prints to choose from. I ended up choosing two of my favorite Nature pictures that I took. Each one has a special memory attached to it and is now immortalized on Metal.
I chose the Glossy White 8X10 Metal Print with a Wall Float Back so that I could hang them proudly on my wall. From my pictures you can see that they are shiny and reflect light well. (Sorry about that)
They also have Canvas and Acrylic Prints available which are lovely as well and are working on a wood print that I am looking forward to seeing.
Besides just the lovely wall are, they have photo prints as well. They have four different paper finishes that include Luster, Matte, Silk, Glossy, Metallic.Along with Over 25 different print sizes.
I ordered some 4x6s, some 5x7s and a few 8x10s of my favorite pictures.
My Absolute favorite size is the wallet size though. Now I can take a picture of my camera shy husband anywhere and so can his kids. They are cute and atractive and come in sheets of four.

Each picture they print is handled with care and they do their utmost best to ensure you receive the best print possible. Of course if your picture is blurry, your print will be too. There is only so much they can do as they have to work with what you give them. (I had a somewhat blurry picture printed just to see what would happen)
I have to say that I Adore ADoramaPix and I will certainly be ordering from them again the next time I am ready to have some Pictures printed.

Runic Pendent

Viking Ravens and Rune of TYR Pendant / Necklace, Mens and Women Nordic Symbol, Odin's Huginn & Muninn

  • Men's and Women's viking symbol jewelry
  • The pendant is based on the ancient Rune of Tyr (arrow shape) with Odin's ravens Huginn and Muninn
  • Norse, Celtic style heavy pendant on an adjustable black 18 inch cord
  • The Ravens, Huginn & Muninn, belonged to the Norse god Odin and brought him information daily
  • The Tiwaz (arrow shaped) Nordic rune is associated with Tyr (known for great wisdom and courage)
The Tiwaz (arrow shaped) Nordic rune is associated with Tyr (known for great wisdom and courage). It is worn by spiritual warriors. When coupled with the Ravens (the viking god Odin's servants, named Hugninn and Muninn), animal spirits of desire and thought will harness wisdom and courage in channeling energy towards a righteous cause.

I love my new Runic pendant, it is so nice to be able to change things up from my usual Mjolnir. I love that it is a tribute to both Tyr and Odin at the same time. The pendant seems to be made out of a basic lead free pewter and the cord it arrived on is better quality than usually comes with Amazon jewelry. I am very happy with the quality of this Tiwaz pendant and so is my husband, we are going to be buying another one for him next payday.
